LIU Post’s Turan Named Third Team All-American; Bjoernoe and Jorgensen Earn Honorable Mention

Kansas City, Mo. – Three LIU Post men's soccer players were named to the Daktronics All-America teams, it was announced on Wednesday.  Junior Cemil Turan (Staten Island, N.Y.) was named to the third team, while Marco Jorgensen (Copenhagen, Denmark) and Eirik Bjoernoe (Randaberg, Norway) earned Honorable Mention accolades.   The Daktronics All-America and All-Region teams are selected by athletics communications professionals at NCAA Division II institutions.

Turan, a repeat selection at ECC Player of the Year, once again was an offensive force to be reckoned with, totaling 24 points behind 15 goals and four assists.  His five game-winners led the way for the Pioneers as he makes his second straight appearance as an All-Region selection.

Jorgensen was named the ECC Goalkeeper of the Year as well as a First Team All-Conference selection as he posted a 17-2 record in goal, along with a 0.99 goals against average, an .806 save percentage, and four shutouts.

Bjoernoe led the Pioneers with 12 assists, ranking top ten in the NCAA in total assists and assists per game and finishing first in the conference as well.  He also scored four goals to total 20 points, good for second on the team, all while captaining a defense that ranked first in the conference in goals allowed.
