Nine ECC Men’s Soccer Players Named to Daktronics All-Region Team

Central Islip, N.Y. – Nine East Coast Conference men's soccer student-athletes have been named to the 2012 Daktronics NCAA Division II All-East Region Teams. Three players earned First Team distinction, while six were placed on the Second Team.

LIU Post tied with Southern New Hampshire to lead all East Region schools with five All-Region selections. Marco Jorgensen, Cemil Turan, and Eirik Bjoernoe were First Team picks, while Jonathan Watkin and Leron Haywood were Second Team Selections.

Jorgensen and Turan were awarded ECC All-Conference major awards for the second consecutive year, earning the conference's Goalkeeper of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year awards respectively. Jorgensen posted a 17-2 record in net for the Pioneers and led the ECC in goals against average (0.99) and save percentage (.806). Turan topped the ECC in goals (15) and points (34).

Bjoernoe, the final LIU Post First Team selection, led the ECC with 12 assists on the season.

Other Second Team selections include William Koki (Sr., F, Mercy), Matthew DiDonna (Jr., F, NYIT), Vinny Caccavale (Jr., M, NYIT), and Daniel Davren (Sr., M, St. Thomas Aquinas).

First Team selections will now move on to the Daktronics NCAA Division II All-America ballot.
