Kansas City, Mo. – After two more
dominating wins last week, the LIU Post Pioneers men’s soccer
team jumped 14 spots to No. 3 in the nation in the latest NSCAA Top
25 poll.
The Pioneers defeated Nyack, a NCAA Tournament participant a year
ago, and University of the District of Columbia by scores of 3-0
and 4-2 respectively last week to move to 6-0-0 on the season. The
resounding victories were impressive enough for voters to move LIU
Post up 14 spots in this week’s poll, the largest move of any
team in this week’s rankings.
The Pioneers, who have scored at least three goals in five of six
games on the season, are also ranked No. 1 in the East Region.
Mercy, which was ranked No. 24 in the nation a week ago, falls out
of the Top 25 after an 0-1-1 record last week. The Mavericks are
the only other ECC squad in the East Region rankings, coming in at
No. 7
