Kansas City, Mo. – After five consecutive
wins to open their season, the Mercy College men’s soccer
team has joined the LIU Post Pioneers in the NSCAA Top 25 poll.
The Mavericks have scored five straight one goal victories,
including three last week against Chestnut Hill, Stonehill, and St.
Anselm, to come in at No. 24 in this week’s poll. Their
undefeated start also has moved them up to the No. 4 spot in the
regional rankings.
LIU Post, also off to an unbeaten start with a 4-0 record, remain
in the poll for the third straight week. The Pioneers jumped five
spots to No. 17 after continuing their dominating opening run to
the season. In four games, LIU Post has outscored its opponents by
a total of 12-3.
The Pioneers also are ranked in the East Region poll, staying at
No. 3 for the second straight week. Joining LIU Post and Mercy in
the East Region rankings is University of the District of Columbia.
The Firebirds make their initial appearance in the poll after
victories over Shippensburg and Mercyhurst moved their record to
3-0-1 on the year.
Dowling and St. Thomas Aquinas both fell out of the East Region
rankings from a week ago.
