Indianapolis – East Coast Conference
members will represent half the field in the Super One Regional as
C.W. Post, NYIT, and St. Thomas Aquinas all earned bids in the NCAA
Division II Men’s Soccer Championship. C.W. Post is the No. 3
seed and is followed by NYIT at No. 4 and St. Thomas Aquinas at No.
5.
The Pioneers take home the No. 3 spot in the Super One Regional
after taking home the ECC Regular Season Championship. With a
record of 16-2-1, C.W. Post makes their first appearance in the
tournament since 2006. They will take on No. 6 seed Nyack, who are
one of two teams to beat the Pioneers this season. The game will
take place on the campus of No. 2 seed, Southern New Hampshire with
the winners advancing to take on the Penmen.
NYIT and St. Thomas Aquinas will take their ECC rivalry into the
NCAA Tournament, as the two squads meet for the second time this
season. NYIT, the victors in the ECC Men’s Soccer
Championship, took the earlier meeting against the Spartans by a
score of 2-0. NYIT, at 14-3-2, makes their fifth appearance in the
NCAA Tournament and first since 2007.
St Thomas Aquinas makes their first ever appearance in the field of
32 after finishing the regular season with a record of 10-3-4. The
winner of the NYIT/STAC matchup will advance to the Second Round to
face top seed Franklin Pierce.
