Oakdale, N.Y. - The Dowling men's soccer team
has earned a No. 4 national ranking by the National Soccer Coaches
Association of America (NSCAA) in their annual preseason
poll. The Golden Lions reached the NCAA National Semifinals
for the 6th time in program history in 2010, ending the season
ranked No. 4 in the country.
Dowling finished last year with a 12-2-6 record, picking up East
Coast Conference (ECC) regular season and tournament titles along
the way. The Golden Lions then earned their 12th bid to the
NCAA Tournament, eventually defeating then No. 1 ranked Franklin
Pierce University in the East Region final to advance to the Final
Four in Louisville, Ky.
The Golden Lions begin the 2011 campaign on September 1st as they
host the University of Massachusetts Lowell at Golden Lions
Field.
