Men's Soccer All-Conference Teams Announced

Central Islip, N.Y. – Freshman Markus Naglestad (Kristiansand, Norway) from the University of Bridgeport has been selected both the 2010 East Coast Conference Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year, as voted on by the league’s coaches.  Queens College Senior Brian Buckmire (Toronto, Canada) and Dowling junior Vladimir Milosavljevic (Lucani, Serbia) have been named the Co-Defensive Players of the Year. Dowling junior Chris Kucera (Sayville, N.Y.), was also awarded his second straight Goalkeeper of the Year honor.

Naglestad had a remarkable first season for the Purple Knights, earning both Offensive Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year honors. Naglestad helped propel Bridgeport to a second seed in the East Coast Conference by leading the conference in every offensive category. Overall, Naglestad finished with 35 points on 13 goals and nine assists as well as sending home four game-winners.

Buckmire lived up to his billing as 2010 ECC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year, by earning the same distinction in the end of the year honors. Buckmire anchored the back line for the Knights, helping them to shut out two opponents on the year. He would also chip in by scoring one goal on the season.

Buckmire shares the Defensive Player of the Year award with Dowling’s Milosavljevic. Milosavljevic was a force on defense for the Golden Lions, leading them to a first place finish with a record of 5-0-2 (10-1-4 overall).  In 15 games, he helped to shut out seven different opponents and allow only 0.67 goals per game.

Kucera earns his second straigt Goalkeeper of the Year award. On the year, Kucera has registered 42 saves and an .808 save percentage to lead the conference with a 0.63 goals against average. He also leads the ECC in shutouts with seven while posting a 10-1-4 record.

Leading his team to an ECC Regular Season title, John DiRico has been voted the ECC Men’s Soccer Coach of the Year by his peers.  DiRico guided the Golden Lions to a 10-1-4 regular season record with a 5-0-2 mark in conference play to earn the top seed in the ECC Tournament.
