Oakdale, N.Y. - Men's Soccer assistant coach
Mike Grudge was recently featured on soccercoachtv.com for not only
his extensive history in the sport of soccer, but also his
membership in the band Brass Construction.
A native of Sheffield, England, Grudge spent 15 years at New York
City Tech Junior College, where he was the head coach for 10 years.
During his head tenure at Tech, Grudge was named CUNY Coach of the
Year twice and led his team to five conference championships.
Grudge compiled a record of 82-48-19 during his term and made 10
consecutive Region 15 NJCAA Tournament appearances and coached
seven All-Americans. He then went on to become an assistant
coach at Stony Brook University before joining Dowling College.
Off the field, Grudge has been a member of the group Brass
Construction, a nine-piece pop/R&B band, since 1972. Grudge
plays bass guitar and saxophone and sings lead vocals for the
group, which received a Grammy nomination in 1977 for Best Jazz
Instrumental Performance. The band has toured with such acts as The
Jacksons and Chaka Khan. The band, which has recorded 12 total
albums, has three gold albums and one platinum album to its credit
and currently performs in Atlantic City and Connecticut casinos and
the Apollo in New York City. Grudge also writes and produces house
music CDs.
