KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Dec. 2, 2009) - On Tuesday morning, Daktronics, Inc. in conjunction with AthleticSite.com released its All-America selections for Division II men's soccer, and senior midfielder Jose Batista (Rego Park, N.Y.) was chosen to the second-team. This award continues a great streak for him as he has been selected as the East Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Year and a Daktronics All-East Region first-team all-star in 2009. Batista is also currently ranked in the Top-15 in the nation in a pair of statistical categories.
Overall, the Rego Park native totaled 28 points on 12 goals and four assists. Three of those markers were also game-winners. Furthermore, Batista posted a .406 shot-on-goal percentage in 14 games. Amongst the country, he presently ranks 13th in points per game (2.0) and 14th in goals per game (0.86). In the ECC, Batista was the leader in points per game. He was also second in a variety of channels, which included total points, goals and goals per game. Moreover, Batista was recognized as the league's best player during the week of Oct. 26.
