Central Islip, NY - Senior back Patrick Cunningham (Oakdale, NY) from Dowling College has been selected the 2008 East Coast Conference Men's Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Cunningham has been a staple on the Dowling defense for 4 years, having been a part of the 2006 National Championship team and the 2008 National Finalists team. Continually earning spots on the Dean's List and Athletic Director's Honor Roll, Cunningham was also named to the 2008 Academic All-District 1st Team as well as ECC All-Conference 1st Team. In the 2008 post season, he was named to the Final Four All-Tournament Team and was the TFCU Scholar-Athlete of the Month in December. Cunningham is majoring in accounting and currently boasts a 3.9 grade point average.
East Coast Conference Scholar-Athlete of Year Award recipients are nominated by their institution and voted upon by the Faculty Athletic Representatives from each ECC institution.
