ECC Lacrosse Championship Brackets Set

West Babylon, N.Y. - With the conclusion of regular season play, the brackets have been finalized for the East Coast Conference Men's and Women's Lacrosse Championships.

The women's tournament gets underway with the first round on Tuesday, April 30. Semifinals for the men will then take place on Wednesday, May 1, followed by the women's semifinals on Thursday, May 2. All first round and semifinal contests will be held on the campus sites of the higher seeds. The championship games of both tournaments will be hosted by NYIT at President's Stadium on Saturday, May 4.

Men's Lacrosse
Mercy went a perfect 6-0 through conference play to capture their first-ever ECC Regular Season Championship and the No. 1 seed in the tournament. The Mavericks, ranked No. 9 in the latest USILA Top-20 poll, also finished with a 15-1 overall record.

No. 4 Roberts Wesleyan will be Mercy's semifinal opponent. The Redhawks are making their first-ever appearance in the ECC Championship after compiling a 3-3 mark in conference play (7-6 overall).

Mercy was victorious in the regular season matchup between the two schools, winning by a score 9-6 on March 16.

LIU Post is the No. 2 seed after finishing with a 5-1 mark in ECC play (10-4 overall). The Pioneers are in search of the program's fourth ECC Championship since the tournament began in 2014.

The Pioneers will take on their longtime rival, No. 3 NYIT (5-12, 3-3 ECC), in the final Battle of the Boulevard and a rematch of last year's ECC final. After a rough start to the season, the Bears came on strong to close out the season and clinch a spot in the bracket. NYIT, who are two-time defending ECC Champions, won their final three ECC games, including the final game in deciding fashion over Roberts Wesleyan, to give them a goal differential tiebreaker that got them in the tournament.

The regular season matchup between the two rivals went in LIU Post's favor by a margin of 17-14.

Women's Lacrosse
The top of the ECC women's lacrosse standings was incredibly tight. So much so that three schools, Mercy, NYIT, and LIU Post, all finished with 7-1 records to all earn a share of the ECC Regular Season Championship.

ECC tiebreakers eventually broke the logjam with Mercy and NYIT earning first round byes as the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds, respectively.

That left four-time defending ECC Champion, LIU Post as the No. 3 seed. The Pioneers, who have made the tournament final in each season since it began in 2014, finished with a 14-3 overall record on the season.

LIU Post will take on No. 6 Bridgeport (8-8, 3-5 ECC) in the first round. The Purple Knights are making their first-ever appearance in the ECC Championship. The two schools met just last week, with the Pioneers claiming a 15-7 win.

The winner of the LIU Post vs. Bridgeport matchup will advance to the semifinals to take on No. 2 NYIT (13-4). The Bears have now been in the ECC Championship in all three seasons the program has been in existence.

The other first round matchup will see No. 4 Molloy (11-6, 5-3 ECC) host No. 5 Roberts Wesleyan (11-5, 4-4 ECC) for the second straight season. Molloy is back in the tournament for the second straight year, while Roberts is making their third straight appearance. Molloy beat Roberts Wesleyan during the regular season, 13-9.

Mercy (13-4, 7-1 ECC) gets the winner of the Molloy vs. Roberts Wesleyan matchup in the semifinals. The Mavericks are in search of their first-ever ECC title after finishing as runner-up in each of the past two seasons.

All games during the championship will be broadcast live on the ECC Network website and the ECC Network app on Apple and Android mobile devices and also on OTT apps through Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Apple TV, and Roku streaming devices.
