Perry, N.Y. - NYIT junior, Ian Prate, has been named the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Division II Long Pole Midfielder of the Year.
Prate, who was also named the East Coast Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Year, earns the honor after finishing in the top three in the ECC with 69 ground balls and 32 caused turnovers on the year. He also finished ranked No. 14 in the nation with 1.88 caused turnovers per game.
In addition, Prate was one of seven ECC standouts to earn a spot on the USILA/Nike Division II All-America Team. Prate and teammate Will Kistinger were First Team selections. Kistinger, the ECC Offensive Player of the Year, finished the year with 56 points on 41 goals and 15 assists.
Matthew Chanenchuk and Joe Morhardt made it four student-athletes listed on the All-America squad. Chanenchuk was the lone Second Team selection from the ECC, while Morhardt was a Third Team selection.
Rounding out the ECC honorees are Kris Alvarado and Anthony Galeotafiore of LIU Post and ECC Goalkeeper of the Year, Thomas McDermott of Chestnut Hill. The trio were all Third Team selections.
