Lynott Named Division II Outstanding Defensive Player; 12 Earn All-America Honor

Perry, N.Y. - East Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Year, Jon Lynott of NYIT, has been named the winner of the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association's (USILA) Division II William C. Schmeisser Outstanding Defensive Player award. In addition, 12 student-athletes from the ECC have been named Division II All-Americans.). Three of the standouts earned First Team honors.

In addition the Outstanding Defensive Player award, Lynott was one of three named to the All-America First Team. The senior anchored an NYIT defense that ranked seventh in Division II in allowing only 8.06 goals per game. Lynott also ranked second in the ECC with 30 caused turnovers in addition to scooping up 41 ground balls on the year.

Brian White of Dowling and Anthony Berardis of LIU Post joined Lynott as First Team All-Americans. White, a senior attacker who also was named the ECC Offensive Player of the Year, led Division II with 6.0 points per game and 3.2 assists per game. He finished with an ECC-high 90 points on 42 goals and 48 assists.

Berardis, a senior midfielder, also earns a spot on the First Team after scoring 22 goals and 20 assists for 42 points on the year.

ECC student-athletes on the Second Team included Ryan Slane of LIU Post and Will Kistinger, Sean Cleary, and Alex Seltzer of NYIT.

Third Team honorees are NYIT's Shawn Murphy and Tom Hughes and Dowling's John Astrologo and Frank Gluchowski.  Matty Beccaris of LIU Post rounds out the ECC representation as an Honorable Mention selection.
