LIU Post Men's Lacrosse Selected for NCAA Tournament

Indianapolis, Ind. - The ECC Men's Lacrosse Champion, LIU Post Pioneers, have been selected as one of the eight teams that will compete for a Division II National Championship.

After winning their second straight ECC Championship, LIU Post (14-2) will be in the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive year and sixth time in the past seven seasons. The Pioneers have earned the No. 4 seed in the North Region and will take on top-seeded, Le Moyne (14-2).

The Dolphins are a familiar post-season foe for LIU Post, as this is the third straight season the two schools will meet in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament. It will also be the fifth time the schools have met in NCAA Tournament play.

The Pioneers hold a  3-1 advantage in the previous four meetings, including last season's 9-3 victory on the Dolphins' home field that helped propel LIU Post to a National Championship game appearance. Le Moyne leads the all-time series between the programs, however, boasting an 8-5 record in 13 matchups.

Northeast 10 Champion, Adelphi, and Merrimack, the only teams to hand LIU Post a loss this season, make up the other half of the North Region bracket.

The South Region representatives are No. 1 Limestone, No. 2 Lake Erie, No. 3 Tampa, and No. 4 Lindenwood. Limestone is the reigning Division II National Champion.

The first two rounds will be on campus sites with quarterfinal play commencing on May 9. The winners will advance to the semifinals on May 17.

The National Championship game will take place at Lincoln Financial Field, home of the NFL's Philadelphia Eagles, on May 24.
