Perry, N.Y. – Six men’s lacrosse
student-athletes from the East Coast Conference have been named
All-Americans by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse
Association. Three of the six, Luke Miller and Danny McDermott of
New York Institute of Technology and Lou Riley of Dowling, were
named First Team All-Americans.
Miller, the ECC Player of the Year, earns his first All-America
selection after an outstanding sophomore campaign. The attacker led
the ECC in points with 86 on 44 goals and 42 assists. Miller also
led all of Division II with 5.73 points per game and ranked second
with 2.80 assists per game.
Miller’s teammate and ECC Defensive Player of the Year,
McDermott, repeats as a First Team All-American, earning the honor
for the second year in a row. McDermott led the ECC with 41 caused
turnovers and finished ranked fourth with 69 ground balls. He also
finished tops in Division II in caused turnovers per game with 2.73
a contest.
Riley was one of two specialists on the First Team. A faceoff
specialist, Riley ranked fourth in Division II in faceoff win
percentage at .658 on 181 faceoff wins. Riley also led the ECC with
88 ground balls and ranked third in the nation with 6.77 ground
balls per game.
Other ECC standouts to earn All-America recognition were Ryan
Brunet of NYIT and TJ McAndrews of LIU Post, who earned Second Team
distinction, and Matty Beccaris of LIU Post, who was named
Honorable Mention.
