Perry, N.Y. – ECC men’s lacrosse
teams take up four of the 12 spots in the latest United States
Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association’s Division II poll.
NYIT is the highest ranked team ECC squad coming in at No. 6. The
Bears, who were No. 6 in the poll last week as well, hold steady
after defeating Bentley 10-8 in their only action last week.
Next up at No. 7 is the defending National Champions, Dowling
College. Despite a 9-4 victory over St. Rose to even their record
at 1-1 on the season, the Golden Lions fall two spots in this
week’s rankings.
At No. 9 is LIU Post. The Pioneers suffered their first defeat of
the season in a closely contested one goal match-up with Long
Island rival Adelphi. The 8-7 loss to the Panthers moved the
Pioneers to 3-1 on the season, but the defeat did not equal a drop
in the rankings as LIU Post remained at their No. 9 position from
last week.
The new ECC team in the poll is Molloy. The Lions enter the
rankings for the first time since the 2010 season after two
impressive wins to begin the 2013 campaign. Last week the Lions
defeated Southern New Hampshire 16-10 to move their record to 2-0
on the year.
ECC member Chestnut Hill, who went 2-0 on a trip to California
last week, was listed among the Also Receiving Votes portion of the
poll.
