Perry, N.Y. – For the third straight
week, the East Coast Conference grabbed six of the top 12 spots in
the USILA National Poll.
Mercyhurst, the defending national champion, continues to hold down
the top spot in the poll after picking up their second win of the
season. The Lakers defeated conference foe and then ranked No. 11
Chestnut Hill in impressive fashion. The 17-5 victory over the
Griffins led to nine first place votes and a unanimous hold on the
No. 1 ranking. Chestnut Hill fell one spot to No. 12 in the poll
after the defeat.
The next ECC school in the poll is Dowling at No. 5. The Golden
Lions remain in the same spot as after opening their season with
victories over Molloy and Seton Hill.
Seton Hill, who was coming off a victory over C.W. Post, dropped
one spot to No. 8 after falling to the Golden Lions. C.W.
Post bounced back from defeat with a 13-6 win against Southern New
Hampshire to move ahead of Seton Hill and into the No. 7 spot.
The last ECC representative in the poll is NYIT at No. 9. The Bears
moved to 4-1 on the season with defeats of American International
and Lake Erie, but a loss to St. Anselm earlier in the week caused
a fall from last week’s spot at No. 6.
