Lafayette Hill, Pa. – Amongst friends and
family, Chestnut Hill College’s Head Men’s Lacrosse
Coach Brian Dougherty was inducted into the Eastern Pennsylvania
Lacrosse Hall of Fame on Saturday evening, February 5. Dougherty
was one of eight members in the Class of 2011 which also featured;
Lynn Thompson Anderson, Michael Busza, Gail Cummings-Danson, Lee A.
Krug, Robert “Buzz” Lynn, John C. Nostrant, and Joan
Waterfield Salmon.
Presented by the Philadelphia Lacrosse Association and hosted at
Whitemarsh Valley Country Club, the evening was a celebration of
the accomplishments and achievements of several influential
individuals. In his acceptance speech Brian Dougherty reflected on
what it meant to be a lacrosse player from Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania, the hard work and dedication required to succeed, and
the numerous family and friends who touched his life along the way.
Dougherty is a two-time Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL)
Champion (1998 & 2010), a two-time Ensign C. Markland Kelly,
Jr. Award winner (1995 & 1996), and a three-time Major League
Lacrosse (MLL) Champion (2003, 2006, & 2007), which recently
earned him the title of “Goalie of the Decade”. A local
product, Dougherty began playing lacrosse at Episcopal Academy in
1989.
