Central Islip, NY- Four East Coast Conference Teams are still ranked in the top ten of the most recent USILA Division II Coaches Poll, however they now sit in a slightly different order than one may be used to seeing.
Dowling College jumped into the third place slot after upsetting the then #1 and previously undefeated C.W. Post Pioneers, 8-7, on Saturday. The win propelled Dowling to 8-1 on the season, while the Pioneers dropped to 10-1 and fell into a fourth place tie in the poll. This loss snapped the Pioneers’ 19 game winning streak that extended from 2009’s NCAA Championship season.
LeMoyne College moved into sole possession of the first place slot, and garnered seven of nine first place votes this week as they hold a 9-0 record. Mercyhurst College also remains undefeated at 9-0 and earned two first-place votes to slide to the No. 2.
Rounding out the East Coast Conference teams is NYIT. The Bears are 6-3 on the season and remain in the seventh spot in the poll. The East Coast Conference still features more teams than any other conference in Division II.
