Sep 3, 2009

Oakdale, NY-  After earning the Ontario Lacrosse Association's (OLA) Most Outstanding Defender award for his exceptional play with the Brampton Excelsiors as well as making the OLA All-Star First Team, Kyle Rubisch of the Dowling Men's Lacrosse team has two more honors to add to his resume.  Rubisch was recently named the NLL Insider JOTY Defender of the Year and was named to the All-Canadian First Team.

As team captain for the Excelsiors, Rubisch had a standout 2009 campaign in which he scored 7 goals in 22 games played and tallying 8 assists and 11 loose balls while leading arguably the league's leading defensive team.  Rubisch helped his team reach the Minto Cup Final where they would fall to Orangeville in a best of three contest this August.

Kyle brought his intensity to the field in 2009 for Dowling as well, leading his team to a 7-6 mark while earning USILA All-American Second team honors as well as ECC All-Conference First Team honors.  Rubisch led the Golden Lions with 23 caused turnovers last season while tallying 48 groundballs.
