Three ECC Men’s Lacrosse Players Selected in MLL Draft

Central Islip, N.Y. - Three East Coast Conference student-athletes were drafted in the 2009 Major League Lacrosse Collegiate Draft on May 27.  Keith Galante (MF, Molloy) and Donny Moss (MF, Adelphi) were picked up by the Long Island Lizards and Matt Messina (MF, NYIT) was drafted by the Boston Cannons.

Messina was selected as the 30th overall pick in the fourth round.  The First Team All-Conference recipient tallied 44 points during his senior campaign.  He capitalized on 20 shots while dishing out 24 assists on the season and was selected to the USILA All-America First Team.

Galante, selected in the fourth round as the 34th overall pick, is the first player to be drafted from Molloy College.  The ECC All-Conference First Teamer led the Lions with 65 points with 22 goals and 43 assists.  He was named a USILA All-American and was dubbed the Division II Most Outstanding Midfielder.

Moss was drafted in the fifth round as the 39th overall pick.  Moss scored six goals this season while adding six assists and scooping up 39 groundballs.

The three were the only Division II student athletes selected in the draft.
