Red-Hot Shooting Lifts Bridgeport Into ECC Hoops Final With 119-88 Victory Over Molloy

Washington, D.C.- The top-seeded University of Bridgeport men's basketball team shot a blistering 62.2 percent from the floor, hitting 46-of-72 field goals, as the Purple Knights led from wire-to-wire to advance to Sunday's East Coast Conference Championship Final with a 119-88 victory over the fourth-seeded Molloy College Lions in a game played in our Nation's Capital on the campus of the University of the District of Columbia. 

Saturday's 119 points are a season-high for UB, and the seventh time this season the Purple Knights have surpassed the 100-point mark in a game.  All 14 players that saw action for Bridgeport against the Lions scored points.

UB heads into Sunday's ECC Men's Basketball Championship Final against St. Thomas Aquinas with an overall record of 24-3, and Molloy closes out 2019-20 with a 12-17 record.

Junior Juan Coffi (Barcelona, Spain) led the Purple Knights in scoring with a career-high 25 points off the Bridgeport bench.

Coffi was joined in double figures by seniors Bakary Camara (Harlem, N.Y.) with 23 points and D'Vonne Trumbo (Pilesgrove, N.J.) who netted 22 points.  Camara also finished with a game-high seven rebounds, six assists and three steals, and Trumbo dished off a game-high eight assists, grabbed five boards and had two steals.

Junior Hashem Abbas (Nablus, Palestine) rounded out the four Bridgeport players in double-digit scoring with 14 points, and he also had six rebounds for the winners.

Senior Nick Corbett four Lions in double figures, as he closed out his stellar career in Rockville Centre with 16 points.

On Sunday, the Purple Knights will be looking for their first conference title since 2015, when Bridgeport won its third consecutive crown (2013-14-15).
