STAC Men and Queens Women Begin Season Ranked in Top 25

After winning NCAA East Region Championships in 2017, both the St. Thomas Aquinas men's and Queens women's basketball teams begin the 2017-18 campaign ranked in the Division II Preseason Top 25 polls.

The St. Thomas Aquinas men begin the season at No. 5 in the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division II Top 25 poll. The Spartans return seven players from last year's ECC and NCAA East Region Championship team, including the two-time reigning ECC Player of the Year, Justin Reyes. STAC, who finished last season 28-6, begins their season at the Small College Basketball Hall of Fame Classic in Evansville, Indiana with games against fellow nationally ranked foes, No. 10 Ferris State and No. 20 Findlay.

The Queens women's team begins the year at No. 12 in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division II Top 25 poll. The Knights have eight players back from last year's roster that finished 27-5 but Queens loses the services of reigning National Player of the Year and the ECC's all-time leading scorer, Madison Rowland, due to graduation. The Knights kick off their East Region title defense with a matchup in Philadelphia with Jefferson University on November 11.
