Bridgeport Sees Season Come to an End with Loss to Southern Connecticut State

Springfield, Mass. - The University of Bridgeport men's basketball team, seeded fourth in the East Regional, saw its 2014-15 season end on Saturday night, as the Purple Knights fell to the fifth-seeded and defending NCAA East Region Champions, the Southern Connecticut State Owls, 88-75, in Springfield, Massachusetts on the campus of American International College in the 2015 NCAA East Regional.

Senior Willie Williams III (Norwalk, Connecticut) led Bridgeport with a game-high 30 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to close the year with another double-double.

Junior Jesse Jones (Irvington, N.J.) joined Williams in double figures with 19 points off the Bridgeport bench.

Michael Mallory led SCSU with 24 points.

Bridgeport finished its stellar 2014-15 campaign with an overall record of 24-7.  Southern Connecticut moves on to face top-seed and host American Internal College in tomorrow night's regional semifinal.
