Dowling's Davis Named USBWA DII National Player of the Week

Darien Davis has been named the U.S. Basketball Writers Association Division II Player of the Week after the senior guard led Dowling College to a pair of victories last week over New York Institute of Technology and Adelphi University, averaging 36.5 points per game on 67.4 percent shooting (29-for- 43) from the floor. Davis also added 6.0 rebounds per game, 4.0 assists per game, and 2.5 steals per game.

Against NYIT, Davis finished with 36 points, five rebounds, five assists, and two steals. He followed that with an East Coast Conference season-high 37-point performance against Adelphi, while also grabbing seven rebounds. Davis shot 50 percent from three-point range as well, hitting four-of-eight from long range in both games.
