Three Earn NABC All-District Distinction

Kansas City, Mo. - Three ECC men's basketball players have been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches East Region All-District Team. ECC Player of the Year, Darian Hooker of NYIT, was a First Team selection, while Gerald Beverly of Daemen and Willie Williams III of Bridgeport earned Second Team status.

Hooker was the nation's leading scorer with 28.3 points per game. The total, along with his 736 points on the year, set ECC single-season records. Hooker also led the conference in numerous statistical categories, including field goals made (232), three pointers made (83), free throws made (189), free throw percentage (87.1), and assists per game (4.9).

Beverly repeated as the ECC Defensive Player of the Year and as an All-Conference First Team pick after pouring in 20.0 points per game in addition to leading the conference with 12.0 rebounds per game, 3.5 blocks per game, and a 60.7 shooting percentage. Beverly also set an ECC single-game record with 12 blocks against St. Thomas (Fla.) on December 17.

Williams, an ECC All-Conference First Team selection, helped lead Bridgeport to their third straight ECC title. In the tournament, Williams was the Most Outstanding Player after averaging 20.0 points per game and 12.0 rebounds per game. On the season, Williams finished in the top-10 in the ECC in scoring and rebounding, finishing with averages of 14.6 points per game and 9.3 rebounds per game.
