Beverly and Hooker Earn All-America Honors

ECC men's basketball standouts, Gerald Beverly of Daemen and Darian Hooker of NYIT, have earned All-America honors. Beverly has been named a Third Team All-American by the Basketball Times and earned Honorable Mention status on the Daktronics/Division II CCA list, while Hooker was listed on the Daktronics Third Team.

Beverly, a two-time ECC Defensive Player of the Year and All-Conference First Team selection, had another outstanding season for the Wildcats. He finished second in the loop with a 20.0 points per game average and led the league with 12.0 rebounds per game, 3.5 blocks per game, and a 60.7 shooting percentage. Beverly etched his name into the ECC record book numerous times this season, with his block and rebound totals were the sixth highest single season totals in conference history. He also tied an ECC single-game record with 12 blocks. In addition, he finished his career with 221 blocks in two seasons in the ECC, good for fifth on the ECC all-time list.

Like Beverly, Hooker had a record-breaking season on the way to ECC Player of the Year honors. In 26 games, Hooker poured in 28.3 points per game with 736 points, both ECC single-season records. His points per game total led all of Division II, as well. He also led the conference with 232 field goals made, 83 three pointers made, 189 free throws made, and an 87.1 free throw percentage. In addition to his scoring exploits, Hooker also led the conference with 4.9 assists per game.
