Beverly and Hooker Earn Daktronics First Team All-Region Recognition

Albany, N.Y. – University of the Sciences senior forward Garret Kerr (Avalon, N.J.) again has top billing on the Daktronics/Division II Conference Commissioners Association East Region Men's Basketball All-Region Team that was selected by NCAA Division II Sports Information Directors from institutions and conference offices.
 
Kerr, the 2014-15 and 2013-14 East Region Player of the Year, is accompanied on the first team by NYIT senior guard Darian Hooker (Washington. D.C.), senior forward/center Eric Anderson (Newark, N.J.) of New Haven, and senior forwards Chris Santo (Cherry Hill, N.J.) of Saint Anselm and Gerald Beverly (Rochester, N.Y.) of Daemen.
 
Kerr, who is furthermore a three-time Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Player of the Year honoree, is the country’s lone player to be listed among the top-five in both scoring and rebounding behind 24.9 points and 12.7 rebound per-game.
 
Hooker, the Player of the Year in the East Coast Conference, leads the nation with a 28.3 scoring average. He has also handed out 4.8 assists on a regular basis. Santo, who garnered Player of the Year accolades from the Northeast-10 Conference, is producing 21.5 points and 7.9 rebounds per-outing. The NE-10 Defensive Player of the Year, Anderson is the nation’s top rebounder at 13.3 caroms per-game. He has also put up respective 16.3 and 4.0 scoring and assists averages, while Beverly has regularly manufactured 20.0 points, 12.0 rebounds and 3.6 blocks en route to garnering ECC Defensive Player of the Year accolades.
 
In addition to the first-team, five other individuals have been recognized. The second-team All-East squad is comprised of Dominican senior center Nick Smith (Middletown, N.Y.) and Southern Connecticut State senior guard Tylon Smith (Manchester, Conn.), who were second-team honorees a year ago as well. American International senior guard Bobby Harris (Berlin, N.J.), Southern New Hampshire junior guard/forward Rodney Sanders (Linden, N.J.), and junior guard Gelvis Solano (Harlem, N.Y.) of Merrimack round out the second team.
 
The 2014-15 Daktronics men’s basketball All-America team will be announced on Monday, March 23. The five first-team members from each of the country’s eight regions are placed on the national ballot with NCAA Division II Sports Information Directors selecting first, second and third-team All-America honorees. The Ron Lenz Player of the Year will also be chosen from a list comprised of the eight Regional Players of the Year.
