New Haven, Conn. - The top-seeded Southern Connecticut State erased a six-point, 35-29, deficit with an 11-0 run to open the second half, as the Owls posted an 89-73 win over the number eight seed University of Bridgeport Purple Knights in a 2014 NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Championship Quarterfinal Game hosted by SCSU on Saturday night. UB wraps up its 201-14 season an 18-11 record, and Southern Connecticut State moves on with a 28-2 record.
Senior JoJo Swift (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led the Purple Knights with 23 points, and classmate Sean Berry (Irvington, N.J.) led UB on the glass with nine rebounds. Smith also had four assists and four steals on the night
Greg Langston and Tylon Smith led the winners in scoring as they each netted 26 points.
