Indianapolis, Ind. – The Dowling College
men's basketball team fell one spot to No. 6 in the latest NCAA
Division II East Region rankings. The Golden Lions remain the lone
ECC representative in the poll.
After being ranked No. 5 in the first poll of the season, Dowling
fell to No. 6 after an 0-2 record last week. The losses to Daemen
(100-92) and Roberts Wesleyan (76-68), moved the Golden Lions'
record to 21-6 (15-4 ECC). Despite the losses, Dowling clinched the
top seed and home court advantage throughout next week's ECC
Championship.
The Northeast 10 Conference had the most schools listed in the poll
with seven (including the top five), while the Central Atlantic
Collegiate Conference had two.
The regional rankings will be released weekly on Wednesdays through
March 5. The top eight teams (three conference tournament champions
and five at-large berths) in the poll after the conference
championships will earn bids to the Division II Men's Basketball
Tournament.
