Albany, N.Y. – Tobin Carberry, the ECC
Player of the Year, has added another honor for his outstanding
season after being named the Daktronics East Region Player of the
Year on Thursday afternoon. Darian David and Dion Waiters of ECC
Champion, Bridgeport, also earned spot on the All-East Region
Second Team.
Carberry was a prolific scorer this season, ranking in the top-five
in the region with an 18.6 points per game average. He scored in
double digits in every game on the season and poured in more than
20 on 14 different occasions. Carberry also ranked in the top five
in the ECC in field goals made, three point field goals made, and
three point percentage. He also was a strong rebounder for a
guard, pulling down 5.8 boards per contest.
David was Bridgeport’s top scorer and ranked fourth in the
ECC with 17.0 points per game. He also led the ECC in three point
field goals made (64) and ranked in the top 10 in assists (80).
Waiters, the ECC Defensive Player of the Year, leads all NCAA
Divisions with a 4.67 average. He also contributed 9.9 points
per game, 5.3 rebounds per game, and 4.8 assists per game for the
Purple Knights.
The 2012-13 Daktronics men’s basketball All-America team will
be announced on Thursday, March 21. The five first-team members
from each of the country’s eight regions are placed on the
national ballot with NCAA Division II Sports Information Directors
selecting first, second and third-team All-America honorees.
The D2SIDA All-America men’s basketball team is sponsored by
