Indianapolis, Ind. – The University of Bridgeport and LIU Post men's basketball teams have been ranked in the first NCAA Division II Men's Basketball East Region poll released Wednesday afternoon.
Bridgeport, currently in first place in the East Coast Conference on the strength of a 10 game winning streak, comes in at No. 9 in the poll. The Purple Knights have also won 14 out of their last 15 games and boast a 17-8 overall record.
LIU Post, the two-time defending ECC champion, wraps up the list at No. 10. The Pioneers, who are attempting to make their fifth NCAA Tournament in six seasons, are 17-7 (12-4 ECC) to date.
The Northeast 10 Conference had the most schools listed in the poll with seven, while the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference had one.
The regional rankings will be released weekly on Wednesdays through March 6. The top eight teams (three conference tournament champions and five at-large berths) in the poll after the conference championships will earn bids to the Division II Men's Basketball Tournament.
