WASHINGTON, DC - Nigel Munson, star of the University of the District of Columbia men's basketball team from 2009-2012, participated in a NBA Pre-Draft workout with the Washington Wizards on Friday, May 25th.

"I'm really happy for Nigel," University of the District of Columbia head men's basketball coach Jeff Ruland said. "He's certainly done well here, and I hope he goes as far as he can."

Munson, a First Team All-East Region selection this past season, ran through a series of drills designed to test players' athletic ability and basketball IQ. He was joined by Temple's Michael Eric, Florida State's Xavier Gibson, Iona's Scott Machado, Texas A&M's Khris Middleton and College of Charleston's Antwaine Wiggins.

A Washington, DC native out of DeMatha HS, Munson played one season at Virginia Tech before transferring to UDC. This season, he led the Firebirds to their first NCAA Division II Tournament appearance in 25 years. He finished the year ranked eighth in the nation for assists per-game (6.5), 26th in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.26) and 32nd in scoring (19.4 ppg).

The NBA draft is on Thursday, June 28th, 2012.
