Indianapolis – The top two schools in the
East Coast Conference men’s basketball standings, University
of the District of Columbia and C.W. Post, were included in the
first NCAA East Region poll released on February 15. UDC comes in
at No. 3, while C.W. Post takes the No. 10 spot.
In a successful first season in the ECC, UDC has posted a 20-3
record to date. Currently on a six game winning streak, the
Firebirds currently hold the second spot in the ECC standings, one
game behind the Pioneers of C.W. Post.
With an 18-5 record (12-1 ECC) C.W. Post is atop the ECC standings
but in the final spot in the NCAA East Region rankings.
The Northeast 10 Conference leads the way with six representatives
in the poll including Franklin Pierce at No. 1. The Central
Atlantic Collegiate Conference ties the ECC with two squads in the
poll.
The regional rankings will be released weekly on Wednesdays through
February 29. The top eight teams (three conference tournament
champions and five at-large berths) in the final regional poll will
earn bids to the Division II Men's Basketball Tournament.
