Kansas City, Mo. – On the heels of a 10
game winning streak, the University of the District of Columbia
men’s basketball team jumps into the NABC Division II Top 25
for the first time this season. The Firebirds, with a record of
12-1, come in at the No. 22 spot in the poll.
UDC, also currently atop the ECC standings with a 3-0 record, have
not lost to a Division II team yet this season. Their lone blemish
came against Division I opponent Duquesne of the Atlantic 10. Since
that defeat on November 18, the Firebirds have run off 10
consecutive wins.
The Firebirds are led by two of the top five scorers in the ECC in
Brandon Herbert and Nigel Munson. The duo averages 20.0 and 19.3
points per game respectively, to help UDC average over 80 points
per contest. Munson also leads the conference and ranks eighth
nationally with 6.6 assists per game.
