Albany, N.Y. - The 2010-11 Daktronics NCAA
Division II men’s basketball East All-Region squad was
announced on March 9, with two ECC student-athletes making the cut.
East Coast Conference Player of the Year, Stefan Bonneau of C.W.
Post was named to the First Team, while Bridgeport’s Dave
Boykin secured a spot on the second team.
Bonneau, who also earned the Most Outstanding Player honor while
leading the Pioneers to the championship of the ECC Tournament,
takes home a spot on the First Team. In his first season at C.W.
Post, he led the ECC in scoring on the season with an average of
19.0 points per game. A deadly shooter from long range, Bonneau
currently ranks fifth in all of Division II shooting 45.9 percent
from downtown. Bonneau will look to continue his amazing season in
the NCAA Division II East Regional against top-seeded Bentley this
Saturday.
Boykin, an ECC All-Conference First Team selection, makes the
Daktronics Second Team in his final go-round in a Bridgeport
uniform. The graduate student finished eighth in the ECC and tops
on Bridgeport in scoring with 13.3 points per game. Boykin also
finished tenth in the conference in assists with 3.00 per game.
Senior guard Gage Daye (Newark, NJ) of Bloomfield has been named
the Daktronics 2011 East Region Player of the Year. Daye and
Bonneau are joined on the First Team by senior guard Thomas
Baudinet (Watertown, CT) of Saint Anselm along with senior guard
Darin Mency (Hagerstown, MD) of Merrimack and Bentley senior
forward Brian Tracey (Bow Mar, CO).
