Allicott and Kohler Headline Men’s Basketball All-Conference Awards

Central Islip, N.Y. - Senior guard Khaleef Allicott from Queens College has been tabbed the East Coast Conference Player of the Year, as selected by the conference coaches.  C.W. Post guard Jonathan Kohler has been named the 2010 ECC Rookie of the Year. 

Allicott leads the ECC in scoring averaging 17.1 points per game and is third with 2.0 steals per game.  A two-time player of the week as well as a two-time co-player of the week, Allicott has scored twenty-plus points in eleven games this season.  The guard averaged 2.67 assists per game and recorded three or more steals in ten games on the year.  He cracked the Queens College record books on February 17th when he became the ninth player in college history to score 1,500 career points. 

Seven-time Rookie of the Week Kohler has posted impressive numbers in his freshman campaign.  Kohler leads the conference with a 60.3 shooting percentage and is ninth in scoring, averaging 14.0 points per game.  He has scored a total of 377 points on the season, including a career high 31 points and 9 rebounds against Daemen College earlier this season.  Kohler was also named Second Team All-ECC this year.

Head Coaches Mike Ruane from the University of Bridgeport and Tim Cluess from C.W. Post have been tabbed Co-Coaches of the Year.  Ruane led the Purple Knights to a 21-8 overall record which garnered a first-place finish in the ECC and the number one seed in the ECC playoffs.  The Purple Knights currently hold the 9th place spot in the East Region Poll as well.  Cluess, a three-time recipient of the award, led his Pioneers to a second place ECC finish and a 22-5 overall record this season.  C.W. Post earned the number two seed in the ECC playoffs and currently sits at 10th place in the East Region Poll.

The ECC All-Conference First Team includes:   Khaleef Allicott (Sr., G, Queens), Dave Boykin (Jr., G, Bridgeport), Aaron Hall (Jr., F, C.W. Post), Brian Hutchinson (Jr., F, Molloy) and Nemanja Jokic (Sr., F, C.W. Post).

The ECC All-Conference Second Team members are:  Ra'Shad James (So., G, St. Thomas Aquinas), Jonathan Kohler (Fr., G, CW Post), Steve Martin (Sr., G, Bridgeport), Akim Neverson (Jr., F, Queens), David Seagers (Sr., G, Dowling), and Jerrell Walker (Jr., F, NYIT).

The ECC All-Rookie Team is comprised of Justin Brown (G, St. Thomas Aquinas), Tyler Jones (G, Mercy), Jonathan Kohler (G, CW Post), Dominic Scurry (G, NYIT) and Bryan Van Cott (G/F, Mercy).
