Lans Named the 2008-09 Men’s Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year

Central Islip, NY - Dowling College senior guard Leonard Lans (Spring Valley, New York) has been voted the 2008-09 East Coast Conference Men's Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Lans compiled a 3.53 GPA during his four years at Dowling and graduated with a degree in Management and Leadership.  On the court this season, he helped guide the Golden Lions to the Semifinals of the ECC Basketball Tournament, ranking second on the team in rebounds (135) and third in steals (30).  The two-year Golden Lions' captain has been a leader both on and off the court as he is an integral member of the Dowling Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

East Coast Conference Scholar-Athlete of Year Award recipients are nominated by their institution and voted upon by the Faculty Athletic Representatives from each ECC institution.
