Georgian Court Repeats as ECC Indoor Track & Field Champions

Staten Island, N.Y. - For the second year in a row, Georgian Court won both the ECC Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships.

Georgian Court's men's team finished on top by a tighter score than the women to claim their third ECC title in the past four seasons. They topped runner-up Roberts Wesleyan by a 147.5-134 margin.

The Lions won just three men's events on the evening but compiled lots of points with 16 top-three finishes. Georgian Court picked up two of their wins on the track and one in the field events.

The Lions' individual winners were Chukwuebizie Anuamadi (500m - 1:05.53), Devin Martin (60m hurdles - 8.45), Ryan Roger (shot put - 16.57m).

On the women's side, the Georgian Court women ran away with the meet, beating runner-up Roberts Wesleyan by 50 points (149-99). The Lions were dominant in the field events to separate from their competitors.

Georgian Court won four of the six field events and dominated the shot put and weight throw, claiming five of the six scorers in each event. The Lions pick up 90 of their 149 points in field events, alone.

First-place finishers for the Lions included Charisma Bosley (60m - 7.75 & 200m - 25.50), Aniyah Russell (long jump - 5.78m), Lyric Green (triple jump - 11.85m), and Stephanie Bock (shot put - 13.38m & weight throw - 16.19m).

Lions standouts' also set three ECC Championship records on the evening. Roger rewrote the men's shot put record, while Russell and Green's names are now etched into the conference records, as well.

A total of nine meet records fell, with the majority coming in men's field events. DeAndre Smith (high jump - 2.11m) and Dante Brown (long jump - 7.29m) of St. Thomas Aquinas, Paul Dunbar (pole vault - 4.55m) of Roberts Wesleyan, and Pavan Bhat (triple jump - 14.24m) of Queens set new field marks.

The only track records to fall came on the men's side. Michael Grady was a part of two of them. He set the 1000m mark (2:32.23) and also was part of the record-breaking distance medley relay squad that ran a time of 10:21.92.
