Old Westbury, N.Y. — The NYIT baseball team's East Coast Conference tournament run continues.

The second-seeded Bears routed fourth-seeded Queens, 14-1, in an elimination game on Friday morning at Angelo Lorenzo Memorial Field.

NYIT continues in the losers' bracket on Friday at approximately 3:30 p.m. against either Bridgeport or LIU Post.

Against Queens, DJ Masuck tossed six scoreless innings to earn his program-record-tying 10th victory of the season. Masuck matched Chris Perez (2006) and Joe Esposito (2005) for the NYIT single-season record.

Masuck limited the Knights to four hits and four walks while striking out eight.

Ariel Taveras handled the final three innings and was awarded the save. It was his 11th save of the season, setting a new program record. Taveras passed John Manfredo, who had 10 saves in 1990 for the Bears.

Ben McNeill went 4-for-7 with three doubles and four RBIs, including a two-run single in a five-run third inning. EJ Cumbohad an RBI single and Ryan Kuskowski had a run-scoring double in that frame as NYIT took a 6-0 lead.

Cumbo, the ECC Player of the Year, extended his hitting streak to a team-high 16 games.

The Bears pounded out 21 hits in the victory.

NYIT improved to 32-13 overall this season.
