Uniondale, N.Y. - Facing elimination, the Molloy baseball team recorded 21 hits in back-to-back contests to advance to Championship Saturday against top-seeded St. Thomas Aquinas College tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. The Lions have tied a program-record 31 wins after today's victories. 

Game One: No. 2 Molloy 13, No. 4 Bridgeport 4

The bats of the maroon and white were active from the start, plating three runs in the first innings. Senior Angelo Navetta put Molloy on the board with a bases-clearing triple to set the score at 2-0. Freshman Matt Overton drove in the first baseman with an RBI single to right field. 

Senior Jack McCarty added two more runs for the Lions in the second inning with a two-run triple of his own. In the fourth inning, a double from McCarty and a single from Overton set the score at 7-0 before senior Elijah Leerdamgrounded out, but scored Navetta to give Molloy the eight-run lead. 

Overton and Leerdam each added another RBI in the sixth inning with RBI doubles to set the score at 10-0. UB got on the board in the bottom half of the inning on and RBI double. 

The Lions countered in the seventh with a sacrifice fly from sophomore Jake Saltzman and an RBI single from McCarty, who ended the contest a home run shy of hitting for the cycle. 

Junior Michael Wall set the score at 13-1 in the eighth inning with a ground rule double. The Purple Knights would come within 10 run in the bottom half of the inning on a two-run home run. In the bottom of the ninth, an RBI ground out set the score at 13-4. 

Overton led the team, going 4-for-6, while McCarty drove in a game-high four runs. 

Redshirt sophomore Timothy Panetta threw 7.2 innings, striking out four, for his fifth win of the season.

Game Two: No. 2 Molloy 11, No. 3 LIU Post 4

After two scoreless innings to open the contest, the Molloy offense exploded in the bottom of the third. The Lions, who batted through the order, took a 3-0 lead on two RBI singles to right field from Navetta and Overton. A fourth run came home following sophomore Sean Hogan being hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. 

LIU Post responded in the top of the fourth, cutting the lead in half on an RBI single and a fielder's choice to set the score at 4-2. 

McCarty drove in an insurance run for the maroon and white in the fourth inning with a single to center field, giving Molloy a 5-2 lead. 

The Lions would add two more in the sixth inning on a three-run home run from Overton, his second of the season, and an RBI single from freshman Jake McCarthy. 

The Pioneers plated a run in the seventh on a ground out, but Molloy took an 11-3 lead after seven innings on an RBI double from Navetta and an RBI single from Overton. 

LIU Post would score once in the top of the ninth on an RBI single, but pitcher Anthony Vano forced three fly outs, earning a complete-game victory. The sophomore struck out seven and improved to 7-2 on the season.

Overton went 4-for-5 with a game-high four RBI in the effort. The entire starting lineup for Molloy recorded multiple hits on the afternoon.
