Bridgeport, Conn. - Fourteen student-athletes from the East Coast Conference were named All-Region selections by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) on Tuesday afternoon.
ECC Pitcher of the Year, Matt Kostalos of St. Thomas Aquinas, ECC Player of the Year, Angelo Navetta of Molloy, and Alnaydo Rodriguez of Bridgeport lead the way as First Team selections. Kostalos has posted a 7-0 record to go with a 1.41 ERA and 105 strikeouts in 89.2 innings pitched. Navetta leads the ECC in hitting with a .377 batting average and 72 hits to go along with three homeruns and 33 RBI on the year. Rodriguez has been the top power hitter in the ECC, leading the conference with 10 homeruns and 41 RBI while also posting a .331 batting average.
Michael Rizzitello (Dowling), Casey McCone (Bridgeport), Ronald Bauer (Molloy), and George Navadel (St. Thomas Aquinas), who were all ECC All-Conference First Team picks, earned spots on the NCBWA All-Region Second Team.
Seven more were included on the Honorable Mention list, as well. They are David Groeneveld (LIU Post), Brandon Fischer (St. Thomas Aquinas), Rob Andreoli (LIU Post), RJ Going (Dowling), Greg Dawber (St. Thomas Aquinas), Rob Anderson (Bridgeport), and Cody McPartland (Dowling).
