Four Players Reach Double-Digit Scoring Led By Samirah Henderson's 19 As Women's Basketball Travels To SNHU
Purple Knights Fall To The Host Penmen, 82-73
Manchester, N.H.-The University of Bridgeport women's basketball team was tied with the host Penmen of Southern New Hampshire University 40-40 at the half and UB was down by only one, 53-52, after three quarter, but the hosts managed to outscore the Purple Knights, 29-21, in the final quarter to notch an 82-73 non-conference win in the Granite State on Sunday afternoon. Bridgeport is now 1-6 overall, and SNHU raises its season mark to 5-2 overall.
Junior Samirah Henderson (Rahway, N.J.) led four Purple Knights in double-digit scoring with 19 points off the UB bench, as she connected on 7-of-14 field goals including going 4-of-8 from behind the three-point arc.
She was joined in double figures by freshman Gracen Kerr (Ansonia, Conn.) with 14 points, junior Alyzae Davis (Bronx, N.Y.) with 11 points, and Kyle Felton (Jr., Lithonia, Ga.) fell just shy of a double-double netting 10 points and grabbing nine rebounds.
Jenna Roche led SNHU with 17 points coming off the Penmen bench.
Up next, the UB women's basketball team will open a four-game homestand on Wednesday evening with a 5:00 p.m. game against Goldey-Beacom College.
