UDC Soars Past Mercy in Highest Scoring Game Since 2006

WASHINGTON, DC.- The University of the District of Columbia's men's basketball team cruised to a 113-88 victory over Mercy College, Saturday afternoon at the E.B Henderson Sports Complex gymnasium. This marks the highest scoring game against conference opponents ever and the highest scoring game overall since December 1st, 2006, where UDC defeated Ohio State-Marion 133-53. The Firebirds sweep the season series, and improve to 5-5 in league play while the Mavericks fall to 1-9. 

A total of ten Firebirds made their way onto the scoreboard, with the starting five all recording double-digit figures. Eric Morgan Jr led the Firebirds with a careeer high 19 points, seven rebounds, three assists and a steal. Michael Aiken was next up with 18 points, nine assists, two rebounds and two steals. Jahmir Marable-Williams was just two rebounds shy of a triple-double, with 13 points, 12 assists and eight rebounds. Torrence Horton came off the bench to 16 points on 6-9 shooting from the field and 2-3 from the 3-point line. 

UDC shot a season high 60.3% from the field and the Mavericks shot at 41.3%. Both teams were even in rebounds, pulling down 38 a piece. The Firebirds forced six more turnovers  and converted 23 points compared to the Mavericks eight. The biggest difference came from points in the paint as UDC outscored Mercy 60-18. 

Next Up, UDC (7-12, 5-5 ECC) will head to Buffalo N.Y next Friday to take on D'Youville University. Tip-off is slated for 8: 00PM.
