ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Four different players scored goals on Friday night as the Roberts Wesleyan women's soccer team shutout Lincoln (Pa.), 4-0 in the first East Coast Conference game of the season.
Freshman
Jenna Northup got the offense going for the Redhawks with a goal in the 45th minute off the feed from
Kaidyn Thompson. It was Northup's second goal of the season.
In the second half,
Nevaeh Bunch notched her first career goal with the Redhawks with an unassisted goal in the 59th minute.
Larissa Johnston then headed the ball into the back of the net to put Roberts up three goals.
Cami Brescia was credited with the assist.
Alena Weibel added the final tally of the game in the 90th minute off a pass from Northup.
"We know it's important to win in conference and get those three points," said head coach
Sarah McClellan. "We needed to start strong and use this win as momentum going forward."
Roberts outshot Lincoln, 41-3 and created 16 corner kick opportunities.
The Redhawks used Friday's night's game as an opportunity to bring awareness to suicide prevention through the Katie's Save organization.
Roberts (4-1, 1-0 ECC) will head to Mansfield on Wednesday for a 4 p.m. game.
