Women's Lacrosse Falls in ECC Opener to Molloy, 23-2

Sparkill, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Lacrosse team opened the East Coast Conference portion its schedule by dropping a 23-2 decision to Molloy University on Saturday afternoon at Spartan Field.

STAC (1-7, 0-1 ECC) recorded 11 shots, 19 ground balls, and 11 draw controls on the day. Senior Goalie Colleen Stevens (L, 1-7) made 17 stops. Freshman Arianna Tribble netted her seventh of the year, with 10 minutes left in the second quarter, while Junior McKenzie Schlechtweg tallied her ninth goal of the season with four minutes to play before halftime.

Jamie Maddaluno picked up four goals and two assists for Molloy (5-3, 1-0 ECC), which led 12-2 at the half. Teammates Joanna Mauceri, Megan Rugolo and Amanda Webber talled three goals apiece, while Breanna Signorelli and Hailey Dazzo scored two goals each. Kelly Bergersen, Alexa Amorison, Sofia Quitoni, Brook DiFede, Alyssa Licata and Erin Murphy put a shots of their own to the back of the cage.

Junior Hailey Galison scooped up a team-high five ground balls for the Spartans. Galison also won six draw controls and caused a turnover on the day.

STAC next returns to action on Monday, March 20 (2:00 p.m.) at Post University in Connecticut.
