Firebirds Unable to Overcome First Half Slump

WEST CHESTER, PA- The University of the District of Columbia's men's soccer team fell to West Chester 0-2, Saturday afternoon at Rockwell Field. The Firebirds fell to 1-2-1 on the season while the Rams improved to 3-0-1.

Bronson Shepherd made five saves to keep the Rams scoreless in the second half. Six different Firebirds registered shots on goal but was unable to convert. UDC had the edge in corner kicks 6-4, but West Chester had the 12-9 advantage in shots and their goalkeeper was able to make a game-high six saves to shutout the Firebirds. 

The Rams scored two first half goals within the opening 20 minutes. The Firebirds were left to play catch up and was unable to find the back of the net, resulting in their first scoreless match of the season.  

Up Next, UDC (1-2-1) will host Dominican (N.Y.) University on Wednesday with a kick-off time of 3:00 PM.
