Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

LATE PENALTY KICK FORCES DOLPHINS TO SETTLE FOR DRAW WITH TEXAS A&M INTERNATIONAL

Staten Island, NY - The College of Staten Island Women's Soccer Team faced their toughest test of the young season earlier today as they faced the Dustdevils of Texas A&M International University.  After taking an early lead, the Dolphins were able to keep the Dustdevils from scoring until the final 6:25.  However, a penalty called against the Dolphins allowed the opposition to score the game-tying goal to force a 1-1 draw.  Both teams remain unbeaten on the season and finish the day 2-0-2 through four games.

The Dolphins took the lead just over ten minutes into the match when Arielle Uy sent a ball toward her forwards in the attacking end of the field.  After the ball traveled past forward Jacquelyn D'Amico, the ball curved straight through the back line of the Dustdevils and onto the foot of Isbella Radovini.  Hit perfectly in stride with the pass, Radovini finished for her fourth goal on the season to give the Dolphins a 1-0 advantage.  Just minutes later, Ina Kolker had an opportunity to extend the CSI lead to two, but her shot from the center of the box sailed high and wide.

Following the scoring chance for Kolker, the Dustdevils began to seize control of the match and finished the first half with a 4-3 shot advantage.  Among those shots was an attempt off the post followed by a rebound that was sent just wide.  Another attempt from in close also forced Dolphins goalkeeper Sara Villacres to make a big save which kept the score even late in the half.

Following halftime, the Dustdevils maintained control of possession for much of the final 45 minutes.  Despite a distinct advantage in that area, they failed to score until the game's closing minutes.  With a potential scoring change developing, Emily Albano was whistled for a penalty following a strong challenge just inside the top of the box.  The ensuing penalty kick was converted by Krysan St. Louis leveling the score at 1-1 and forcing the Dolphins to settle for a draw.

After a strong start, the Dolphins were ultimately outshot 16-6 and were held without a corner kick for the entire match.  The Dolphins also committed 13 fouls in the match and were issued a pair of yellow cards.  Despite settling for a draw, Villacres was very strong in goal for the Dolphins saving six shots, many of which were high quality chances in close.

Today's game will be the last home match for the Dolphins until September 30th against Queens College.  The Dolphins will return to action on Wednesday when they face Georgian Court University.
