Bridgeport Women Suffer First ECC Basketball Loss of 2019-20 At Roberts Wesleyan, 61-48
Alyzae Davis Leads UB With 15 Points
Rochester, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport women's basketball team suffered its first East Coast Conference loss on Friday night, as the Purple Knights fell to the host Roberts Wesleyan College Redhawks, 61-48. The Purple Knights trailed by only one point, 45-44, entering the fourth quarter, but UB was outscored 16-4 over the final 10 minutes of action. With the loss, Bridgeport is now 4-11 overall and 2-1 in the ECC. RWC moves to 9-5 overall and even its record at 2-2 in conference play.
Junior Alyzae Davis (Bronx, N.Y.) led UB with 15 points on the night, and she was joined in double figures by freshman Gracen Kerr (Ansonia, Conn.) with 11 points and classmate Janiece Loney (Herndon, Va.) chipped in 10 points.
Loney led UB on the glass grabbing seven rebounds on the night.
Roberts Wesleyan's Emily Miller led all scorers in the game with 20 points, and she finished with a double-double pulling down 15 rebounds.
Up next, the UB women's basketball team will look to get back in the win column when the team wraps up its trip to Western New York on Sunday afternoon with a 1:00 p.m. game versus Daemen College in Amherst.
