Oceanside, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Tennis team got back on the winning side of the ledger, downing ECC foes, Molloy University 7-0 on Friday afternoon at the Point Set Indoor Racquet Club.
The Spartans claimed the doubles point with via a sweep with Giovanna Jallas & Viktoriia Pavlovets defeating Julia Salazar & Isabella Fortaleza, 6-0, followed by the team of Jemima Parkinson & Elita Silins beating Camilla Caballero Abreu & Maggie Kutner 6-0. Ebba Rosberg & Samanta Villegas Robles closed things out with a 6-1 victory over Noor Goyvaerts & Alice Fartushynska.
Elise Semmartin was the first winner in singles, claiming her match 6-0, 6-0. Giovanna Jallas next won at No. 6 singles by the score of 6-0, 6-0 to give STAC the commanding 3-0 advantage. The Spartans picked up a win at No. 2 singles, as Elita Silins dispatched her opponent by a 6-0, 4-6, 1-0 (7) victory to clinch the match. Samanta Villegas Robles (6-2, 6-0), Kateryna Kryuchkova (3-0, Retired) and Amanda Kadiri (6-1, 6-0) also earned wins for St. Thomas Aquinas.
Samanta Villegas Robles, Elita Silins and Giovanna Jallas all went 2-0 on the day, winning their doubles and singles matches.
